   The song is a commentary on environmental issues. Jim Kerr said in NME February 4, "There's one called 'This Is Your Land,' which might sound terribly contrived, but it's probably because we've been up here recording it amongst the very elements, the mountains, the sea the sky. You see all this and then you see the nuclear submarines passing your window.

   But Simple Minds' new wealth gave them the space to write some excellent music. On this album, we get the excellent 'Street Fighting Years', which is at least two anthems crowded into one. And then there's 'This is Your Land', with added credibility from a Lou Reed cameo vocal. 'Mandela Day' is OK/5().

   Jan 16,  · Simple Minds will release a box set celebrating their album Street Fighting Years.. The new edition was remastered at Abbey Road studios by Andrew Walters and will be presented as a 4CD set, a 2CD deluxe package and on 2LP – and it’ll be out on March 6 through UMC.
